Mantle – Beneath the crust, the mantle extends to a depth of about 2,900 kilometers (1,800 miles). It's made of semi-solid rock that moves slowly over time. The mantle is divided into the upper and lower mantle.
Outer Core – Beneath the mantle, the outer core starts around 2,900 km deep and extends to about 5,150 km. It is composed of liquid iron and nickel and generates Earth’s magnetic field.
